Scope
This document describes the engineering method and the survey method for measuring the noise sound pressure levels on a hypothetical rectangular parallelepiped measurement surface enveloping a marine diesel engine (hereinafter referred to as "diesel engine") and determining its noise sound power level, when the engine is running under specified steady-state operating conditions. This document is applicable to the measurement of the airborne noise emitted by diesel engines during bench tests. Internal combustion engines using other fuels are dealt with by reference to this document.
