Scope
This standard is applicable to the food additive sodium alginate (also known as algin) produced by extracting alginic acid from brown algae of the genera Saccharina or Laminaria (kelp), Sargassum, Macrocystis, Ascophyllum and Lessonia as raw materials and neutralizing it under solid-phase conditions or in an ethanol liquid-phase medium.
