Scope
This document describes methods for determining the microporosity of wrought aluminium alloy ingots by the metallographic method and by industrial computed tomography (hereinafter referred to as the "industrial CT method"). This document is applicable to the determination and rating of the microporosity of ingots of 2×××, 3×××, 4×××, 5×××, 6××× and 7××× series aluminium alloys by the metallographic method, and to the determination and rating of the microporosity of ingots of 2××× and 7××× series aluminium alloys by the industrial CT method.
